A password can be set to prevent Outlook data file (*.pst) from unintentional access by strangers. Once you set a password to PST file, a dialog box would ask you for password every time you open Outlook files. Don't worry, we will show you how to recover forgotten PST file password for Outlook 2016 with a famous third party recovery software. Here we go.
Preparation: iSunshare Outlook Password Genius.
Step 1:Tap Open button to browse and select encrypted Outlook 2016 .PST file on your computer. Then add it into Encrypted File box of Outlook Password Genius.
Step 2: In Outlook Password Genius window, choose the attack type in Type of attack drop-down list, you can see four password recovery types. Generally only three are used commonly, Brute-force, Mask and Dictionary. If you remember the range or length of the forgotten password, then select the Brute-force type. If you remember the mask of the password, select the Mask type. If you have make some passwords in a file in case of forgetting, you can use this file as dictionary to match your forgotten password, browse to the file, and select dictionary type.
Step 3: Click Start button to make the password recovery program begin to work. Outlook Password Genius would pop up in new dialog to prompt you the password.
